A specialized service program will be presented by Teri Rexford on May 25 at 11:00 am on issues related to visual impairment, including vocational rehabilitation, visual rehabilitation therapy, orientation and mobility training, and independent living.

Anyone wishing to participate is asked to call the Allegheny Community Center.

The Lions Club will also make a presentation at 1:00 pm that day to provide information about its services for the visually impaired.


Every year, one in four seniors falls and is injured at home. The ACC Annual Fall Prevention Course will be offered on June 14th and 15th at 1:00pm. The two-day event will help seniors learn how to stay safe in their homes while offering specific balance exercises.


The YMCA and ACC have partnered to offer a range of arts, cooking and multigenerational programs in the community. Children’s offerings include an arts experience on Wednesdays from 14 June throughout the summer, culinary programs at the ACC and a range of “make and take” projects. All children’s classes are from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Allegheny Community Center. On the adult side, a five-week acrylic painting course and a two-week color course are offered, as well as a two-week course for grandparents and their grandchildren. The Sponsor-A-Senior program is a great opportunity = Contribute during the Warren Gives event on May 18th. Experience, Inc. has been helping our seniors with essential services for over 56 years. Meals for our local seniors are needed now more than ever. Experience provides 1,200 meals per week for our senior centers and for seniors who require meals delivered to their homes. All proceeds from the Warren Gives event benefit nutrition programs in our area.


The Warren and Forest Counties Silver Games will be held at the Warren YMCA on Friday, June 3rd from 8am. Interested parties are asked to call the ACC or the YMCA. Participants take part in three individual and two team events. The event is open to those 55 and older and sponsors include Experience Inc., the Allegheny Community Center, the YMCA and the Care Council.


Are you looking for a new, fun way to be more active and connect with others? Join us at the Allegheny Community Center for BINGOCIZE! Bingocize combines exercise and health information with the popular game of bingo, which has proven to be a great and fun way to exercise and socialize. Light refreshments are available and prizes are also offered! The program is FREE and partially funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. Bingocize takes place from February 28th to May 19th on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and interested parties can participate as often as possible.


On the first and third Wednesday of every month, the Allegheny Community Center holds a cooking and nutrition class. Join us as we make many different foods and baked goods.


Artist Gail Bidwell begins painting classes at ACC in the dining room on Tuesdays from 9:30am to 11am. The cost is $10.00 per course including supplies unless a specific project is requested. Call the ACC to register.


The Allegheny Community Center requires a receptionist for shifts from 9am to 12pm on Wednesdays and 12pm to 3pm on Thursdays. All interested are encouraged to stop by or call (814) 723-4180.



The Allegheny Community Center has on-site applications for various programs such as LIHEAP (for heating), water and waste to help with water and sewer bills, and a rental assistance application. If you have any questions, please contact the Community Assistance Office at (814) 723-6330. Questions regarding rental assistance may be directed to the Warren-Forest EOC at (814) 726-2400 ext. 107. The EOC has also made a request for post-harvest food distribution in the Lutheran Church.


Here’s a look at the food calendar for April, which is unfortunately subject to change due to supply chain issues. Remember that you must order meals two weeks in advance. Please call your local center to order or – if necessary – cancel meals.

May 23: Meatball hoagie with pasta, green beans, buns and fresh fruit.

May 24: Pork loin with rice pilaf, cauliflower, apples and cookies.

May 25: Stuffed peppers with garlic whipped potatoes, coin carrots, bread and fresh fruit.

May 26th: Chef’s salad with vegetable barley soup, buns and warm peach crumble.

May 27th: Braised roast beef with scalloped potatoes, peas and onions, bread and oranges,

May 31: Sweet and sour chicken with rice, broccoli cauliflower mix, bread and mixed fruits,
